How did his/her actions impact or change the Americas? (In can be years in the future and you are reflecting back, you could even be a ghost in the 21st century and you are noticing the how your person influenced the growth of the United States). Remember to keep the flow! You can also explain what happened to your explorer (what happened to him, how he died, etc.)

Time ticks by slowly in the afterlife. I have been deceased for a few hundred years (give or take a couple of decades). I died in 1493 when one of the captives that Columbus had taken tried to escape. A violent scuffle resulted on the Santa Maria which then caused me to fall overboard. I had a brief but agonizing death. Nevertheless, it’s almost as if I never left the voyage or any of Columbus’ other voyages for that matter. I watched as he captured hundreds more natives from this new land (which he kept on insisting was Asia) and brought them back to Spain. I watched as the King and Queen reacted in horror when they realized what he had done. I even bowed my head in shame as he arrived back to Europe in chains for allowing things to get out of control in Hispaniola (many natives there resented the settlement that he created and rebelled). In any case, the New World (once people realized it really was a new world) is now vastly different. Because of Columbus, many of the early natives in the Americas were either killed, captured, or died from diseases. I watched as Europeans (Dutch, Spanish, British, Portuguese, and French) flocked to this New World. Entire nations formed on this land that was once inhabited by tribes and civilizations long gone. Strange, this is not like how I remembered the New World to be…
I wonder what would have happened if he had never set foot in this land called the Americas ....
